News Desk: Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal's romantic thriller Tu Hai Meri Kiran has failed to gain momentum at the box office over its opening weekend. Released in theatres on October 23, the film recorded no growth in collections on Sunday, with its earnings remaining unchanged from the previous day.
According to trade estimates, the film collected around ₹10 lakh net in India on Day 3. With this, its total domestic net collection reached approximately ₹34 lakh, while the gross collection stood at around ₹38 lakh.
The film had opened with ₹14 lakh on Friday. However, collections dropped to ₹10 lakh on Saturday and remained at the same level on Sunday. The lack of weekend growth indicates a slow start for the romantic thriller.
Low Theatre Occupancy Adds to the Challenge
The film also recorded low audience attendance across theatres on Sunday. Its overall occupancy stood at approximately 5.5% across 1,578 shows, according to reported trade figures.
Late-night shows recorded the highest occupancy at 8.7%, followed by afternoon shows at 6.2%. Night shows registered 5.4% occupancy, while morning and evening shows recorded 5.2% and 4.7%, respectively.
Maharashtra emerged as the biggest contributor to Sunday's collections, generating around ₹4.49 lakh. Uttar Pradesh followed with ₹1.91 lakh, while Haryana contributed approximately ₹1.76 lakh. Delhi, Karnataka and Gujarat also added smaller amounts to the day's earnings.
What Is Tu Hai Meri Kiran About?
Directed by Karan Rawal, Tu Hai Meri Kiran features Sonakshi Sinha, Zaheer Iqbal, Ankit Gupta, Sherlin Seth, Zarina Wahab and Purnendu Bhattacharya.
The story follows Kiran Mittal, played by Sonakshi Sinha, a writer who discovers an old phone after moving into a new home with her husband, Reyan, portrayed by Ankit Gupta. Through the device, she connects with Samar, played by Zaheer Iqbal, who lives in 2016, while Kiran's world is set in 2026.
Their unusual connection gradually takes a troubling turn as Samar begins using Kiran's knowledge of the future for his own benefit. His increasingly controlling behaviour creates complications that affect Kiran's present and personal relationships.
The film combines romance, suspense and elements of time-related storytelling. However, its opening weekend performance has been modest, and its future box office trajectory will depend on whether collections improve during the weekdays.
For now, the film has struggled to attract a substantial audience during its first three days in theatres.
