Delhi Sees Cooler Mornings, Moderate Air Pollution

News Desk: Delhi recorded its lowest minimum temperature of the month on Monday, with the mercury dropping to 16.2 degrees Celsius, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The temperature was 0.2 degrees below the seasonal average, signalling a gradual change in weather conditions in the national capital.

The dip in temperature brought a slight chill to the early morning hours, although clear skies are expected to prevail throughout the day. The IMD has forecast a maximum temperature of around 32 degrees Celsius.

Among the city's weather stations, Palam recorded a minimum temperature of 16.3 degrees Celsius, while Lodhi Road registered 16 degrees. The minimum temperature at the Ridge stood at 16.6 degrees Celsius, whereas Ayanagar recorded 15.7 degrees Celsius.

No rainfall was reported at any of the five weather stations monitored, according to the latest weather data.

Delhi's Air Quality Remains Moderate

While temperatures have started to decline, air pollution continues to be a concern for residents. Delhi's Air Quality Index (AQI) stood at 176 on Monday, placing it in the moderate category, according to data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).

An AQI of 176 indicates that air quality is not ideal, particularly for people who are sensitive to pollution. Residents with respiratory conditions, children and older people may need to take extra care when spending extended periods outdoors.

According to CPCB classifications, an AQI between zero and 50 is considered good, while readings between 51 and 100 are classified as satisfactory. An AQI of 101 to 200 falls under the moderate category, followed by poor air quality between 201 and 300, very poor between 301 and 400, and severe between 401 and 500.

The latest readings suggest that Delhi is experiencing cooler mornings alongside moderate air pollution. With no rainfall reported and daytime temperatures expected to reach 32 degrees Celsius, weather conditions are likely to remain largely dry.

Residents can continue to monitor official weather forecasts and air quality updates for changes in temperature and pollution levels over the coming days.
