News Desk: A 29-year-old software employee was found dead at her residence in Hyderabad in the early hours of Sunday after allegedly threatening to take her own life if a male colleague did not marry her. Police have registered a case and launched an investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding her death.
The woman has been identified as Archana Chaudhary Malik, a native of Uttar Pradesh who worked for a software company in Hyderabad’s Mindspace IT corridor.
According to police, Archana made a video call to one of her colleagues at around 2.30 am on Sunday. The man was reportedly attending a function with his mother outside Hyderabad when the call took place. During the conversation, she allegedly threatened to end her life if he refused to marry her.
Police said the colleague subsequently attempted to contact her several times but received no response. Concerned about her safety, he reached her flat at around 5.30 am. However, the door was locked from the inside.
Following the incident, police personnel arrived at the location and forced open the door. They found Archana dead inside the residence.
Madhapur police confirmed that officers had secured the scene and initiated the necessary procedures. A specialist evidence collection team also examined the premises to gather material that could assist the investigation.
Archana’s body was subsequently shifted to Osmania General Hospital for a post-mortem examination. The findings are expected to form part of the investigation into the circumstances of her death.
Investigators are examining the events leading up to the incident, including the reported relationship between Archana and her colleague. Police are also looking into other possible factors that may have contributed to the tragedy.
At this stage, the circumstances surrounding her death remain under investigation, and the allegations concerning the reported conversation have not been independently established.
The incident has once again drawn attention to the importance of recognising emotional distress and ensuring that people experiencing a crisis receive timely support. Mental health professionals emphasise that individuals dealing with overwhelming emotional difficulties should be encouraged to seek help from qualified counsellors or trusted people.
Anyone experiencing emotional distress or concerned about someone else's safety should reach out to a mental health professional or an appropriate support service.
The police investigation is ongoing, and further details are expected as officers examine the evidence and establish the sequence of events.
