Bollywood actor Sonu Sood has praised the unexpected box-office success of Hanuman Ansh, saying the film’s performance shows that audiences ultimately respond to strong content rather than big budgets, star power or aggressive marketing.
Based on the life of spiritual guru Neem Karoli Baba, Hanuman Ansh has emerged as a surprise success. The film, which reportedly had limited discussion immediately after its release, has gained momentum at the box office and crossed the ₹220 crore mark. According to the figures cited by Hindustan Times, its India net collection has reached ₹222.88 crore.
Reacting to the film’s performance, Sonu Sood said its success should encourage the industry to focus more on stories that connect emotionally with audiences.
Speaking to NDTV, Sood said he was happy to see a film like Hanuman Ansh doing well. He pointed out that its journey demonstrates that a movie does not necessarily require a massive budget, famous faces or extensive promotional campaigns to succeed.
According to Sood, the most important factor is whether the content connects with viewers on an emotional level. He suggested that filmmakers should look beyond glamour and scale and concentrate on stories that people can relate to.
The actor also described the film’s success as an important lesson for the Hindi film industry. At a time when big-budget productions and established stars often dominate conversations around theatrical releases, Hanuman Ansh has managed to attract audiences through its subject and word-of-mouth appreciation.
The film has also received support from several Bollywood personalities as its box-office numbers continued to rise. Hema Malini, Kangana Ranaut, Varun Dhawan and filmmaker Aditya Dhar are among those who have publicly praised the movie.
Varun Dhawan watched the film with his mother and subsequently encouraged his followers to experience it in theatres. He said he had not been asked by anyone to promote the film and that he shared his reaction because he genuinely wanted people to watch it.
Dhawan, who has spoken about his personal connection with Lord Hanuman, described the viewing experience as something special and urged audiences to take their parents and friends to theatres. He also praised the performances and direction.
Hanuman Ansh has been directed by Vishal Chaturvedi. The film centres on Neem Karoli Baba and the miracles associated with him in the beliefs of his devotees.
Its rapid rise at the box office has made it one of the more notable surprise successes of the year. The film’s performance has also sparked discussion about whether audiences are increasingly willing to support movies that offer a strong emotional or spiritual connection, even without the conventional ingredients of a major commercial release.
For Sood, the film’s success is ultimately a reminder that storytelling remains at the heart of cinema. His comments underline the idea that audiences may be willing to embrace a film when its subject and emotions genuinely resonate with them, regardless of its scale or star cast.
