Congress leader Rahul Gandhi launched a sharp attack on the BJP-led government during his address at the INDIA bloc's mega rally at Delhi's Ramlila Maidan on Sunday, November 1. He said the opposition would not allow democracy and the Constitution to be destroyed, calling on people to unite to protect the country's democratic values.
Raising allegations of vote theft in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Rahul Gandhi claimed that the names of 13.5 crore voters had been deleted from electoral rolls. He alleged that removing voters' names was a way of manipulating the electoral process and undermining people's democratic rights. He also demanded the removal of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, questioning the functioning of the Election Commission.
Describing the alleged electoral manipulation as an act of treason, Rahul Gandhi said the country could not allow such practices to continue. He stressed that every citizen must enjoy equal rights, irrespective of their background, and that democracy should give everyone an equal voice.
The Congress leader also targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, accusing the BJP of handing over the country's resources to industrialist Gautam Adani. He warned that Modi and Amit Shah would not be able to escape accountability for their actions.
Addressing concerns over unemployment, Rahul Gandhi questioned why young people who study for nearly 18 hours a day are still unable to secure jobs. He said the country must ensure opportunities and equal rights for its youth.
"My fight is for every citizen of Hindustan," Rahul Gandhi said, emphasising that his political struggle goes beyond any individual party or leader.
He described the Ramlila Maidan gathering as a major protest to save democracy, protect the Constitution and defend the voting rights of every Indian.
