Mumbai: Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan’s residence, Jalsa, in Mumbai’s Juhu area has once again come under a bomb threat, triggering heightened security and an immediate police response. Following the warning, police teams carried out an extensive search of the bungalow and its surrounding areas. However, no explosives or suspicious objects were found during the operation.
Although the threat is initially suspected to be a hoax, investigators are taking the matter seriously and are trying to identify those responsible.
The latest incident comes just days after a series of security alerts involving prominent locations and public figures in Mumbai. In late October, an alleged threat email was reportedly sent to the office of Mumbai Mayor Ritu Tawde. The message warned of possible attacks on the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation headquarters, Amitabh Bachchan’s Juhu residence Jalsa, and a concert by Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh in Mumbai. Several educational institutions in the city were also reportedly mentioned in the email.
Following the earlier threat, security arrangements outside Amitabh’s residence were strengthened. The actor’s traditional Sunday meeting with fans outside Jalsa also witnessed a change in arrangements.
On November 1, Amitabh appeared before his fans from behind a transparent bulletproof protective shield instead of standing in the open as he usually does. His son Abhishek Bachchan was also present beside him. Security personnel were deployed in the area to ensure the actor's safety.
For years, Amitabh has maintained the tradition of greeting fans who gather outside Jalsa every Sunday. Thousands of admirers often wait outside the bungalow for a glimpse of the veteran actor. However, the recent security concerns have forced additional precautions during these interactions.
According to reports, the earlier threat email had warned of a possible attack on Jalsa between October 31 and November 27. The message also reportedly referred to Diljit Dosanjh’s scheduled performance at Mumbai’s Mahalaxmi Racecourse on November 27.
The sender allegedly used the name of a pro-Khalistan organisation in the email. However, the authenticity of the claimed association and the identity of the person behind the threats have not been independently established.
With repeated threats targeting the same residence, Mumbai Police are now focusing on tracing the origin of the messages and identifying the sender. Investigators are also examining whether the incidents are connected or part of a larger conspiracy.
Although the latest search operation found nothing suspicious, security agencies remain alert. Further investigation is underway to establish the credibility of the threat and prevent any possible security breach.
