Jammu, November 2 : The Jammu and Kashmir Civil Secretariat is reopening in Jammu today as part of the annual Darbar Move, marking the resumption of winter administrative operations in the Jammu region.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is scheduled to receive a Guard of Honour at the Civil Secretariat at 9:30 AM, marking the formal commencement of the Secretariat’s winter functioning in Jammu.
The reopening will bring the functioning of the government offices back to Jammu for the winter season, facilitating administrative work and providing people from the Jammu region an opportunity to approach government departments and officials for the redressal of their grievances.
The annual Darbar Move is a longstanding administrative practice in Jammu and Kashmir under which government offices operate from Srinagar during the summer months and shift to Jammu during the winter season.
With the reopening of the Civil Secretariat, various departments are expected to resume their winter operations from Jammu, while official work and public dealings will continue as per the government schedule.
The Chief Minister’s scheduled participation in the Guard of Honour ceremony will mark the formal beginning of the winter Secretariat session in Jammu.
