Nutritionist Shares Dhungri Chicken Tadka Recipe: Spicy Protein-Rich Dish With 29g Protein and Just 330 Calories

Looking for a delicious meal that is both healthy and packed with protein? Dhungri Chicken Tadka could be a great addition to your menu. A nutritionist has shared a fiery, flavour-packed recipe that reportedly provides around 29 grams of protein while containing just 330 calories per serving.

The dish combines tender chicken with aromatic Indian spices, creating a satisfying meal without adding excessive calories. It can be a suitable option for people who want to maintain a balanced diet, increase their protein intake or enjoy a flavourful meal while keeping track of their daily calorie consumption.

What Makes Dhungri Chicken Tadka Special?

Dhungri Chicken Tadka gets its distinctive smoky flavour from the traditional dhungar cooking technique. In this method, a small piece of burning charcoal is placed in a heatproof bowl inside the cooked dish. A little ghee is poured over the charcoal, releasing aromatic smoke that infuses the chicken with a restaurant-style smoky taste.

Chicken is the main source of protein in the recipe, while the spices add flavour without significantly increasing the calorie count.

Ingredients Required

To prepare Dhungri Chicken Tadka, you will need:

- 150g boneless chicken

- 2 tablespoons curd

- 1 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste

- ½ teaspoon turmeric powder

- 1 teaspoon red chilli powder

- ½ teaspoon coriander powder

- ½ teaspoon garam masala

- 1 small onion, finely chopped

- 1 tomato, chopped

- 1 teaspoon oil

- Salt to taste

- Fresh coriander leaves

- A small piece of charcoal and a little ghee for the smoky flavour

How to Prepare Dhungri Chicken Tadka

Step 1: Marinate the chicken

Take the chicken pieces in a bowl. Add curd, ginger-garlic paste, turmeric, red chilli powder, coriander powder and salt. Mix everything well and allow it to marinate for at least 20–30 minutes.

Step 2: Prepare the masala

Heat oil in a pan and add the chopped onions. Cook until they turn golden brown. Add tomatoes and garam masala, then cook until the mixture becomes soft and aromatic.

Step 3: Cook the chicken

Add the marinated chicken to the masala. Cook on medium heat until the chicken is thoroughly cooked and the spices coat each piece evenly.

Step 4: Give it a smoky flavour

Place a small heatproof bowl inside the cooked chicken. Put a piece of hot charcoal in the bowl and carefully add a little ghee. Immediately cover the pan for around two minutes to allow the smoke to infuse the dish. Remove the charcoal bowl carefully before serving.

Step 5: Garnish and serve

Finish with freshly chopped coriander leaves. Serve hot with a salad or a small portion of whole-wheat roti.

Nutritional Benefits

According to the shared recipe's nutritional estimate, one serving contains approximately:

- Calories: 330 kcal

- Protein: 29g

Chicken provides high-quality protein, which supports muscle repair and growth. The spices also add flavour, while curd contributes protein and a creamy texture.

However, the final nutritional values may vary depending on the quantity of chicken, oil, ghee and other ingredients used.

Dhungri Chicken Tadka shows that healthy eating does not necessarily mean giving up bold Indian flavours. With its smoky aroma, spicy masala and protein-rich ingredients, this dish can make a satisfying addition to a balanced diet.
