Anantnag, Nov 3: Anantnag Police has taken cognizance of the stone pelting incident at Pehroo Sherbagh and detained four miscreants.
In a handout the police said with reference to the incident at Pehroo Sherbagh, it is clarified that an altercation took place over offering of prayers in a house converted into a place of worship.
"Some miscreants pelted stones during Isha prayers resulting in minor damage. Police immediately reached the spot and situation was brought under control," police said in a statement issued late last night.
Police said FIR No. 404/2026 has been registered and four persons have been picked up for questioning and investigation is underway.
Citizens have been advised not to give any communal colour to the incident and not to share unverified information, adding that law and order situation is normal and under control.
Meanwhile, a police official told GNS that more arrests will be made in this regard.
