News Desk: Diwali is traditionally a time for bonuses, sweets and celebrations in workplaces. However, some Indian business owners have taken festive rewards to another level, gifting employees everything from brand-new cars and motorcycles to luxury flats and jewellery in recognition of their hard work and loyalty.
With Diwali falling on November 8 this year, several past examples of extravagant corporate gifts have once again attracted attention.
Panchkula company gifts four SUVs
This year, MK Bhatia, founder and chairman of MITS Group of Companies, gifted four brand-new Kia Sonet SUVs to employees ahead of Diwali. The gifts were given to recognise their dedication, loyalty and performance.
This is the fourth consecutive year that Bhatia has rewarded employees with cars. In 2025, he gifted 51 cars, while 15 employees received cars in 2024. In 2023, 12 employees, including an office helper, were presented with Tata Punch cars.

In 2024, Chennai-based Team Detailing Solutions made headlines by gifting 28 cars and 29 two-wheelers to its long-serving and high-performing employees. The vehicles included models from Mercedes-Benz, Hyundai, Maruti Suzuki and Tata.
The initiative was aimed at recognising employees' dedication and contribution to the company's growth.
Royal Enfield bikes for tea estate workers
In 2023, a tea estate in Kotagiri, Tamil Nadu, surprised around 15 employees with Royal Enfield motorcycles as Diwali gifts. The workers were reportedly allowed to choose their preferred models, with each motorcycle costing more than ₹2 lakh.
Jewellery store gifts cars and bikes
Chennai-based Challani Jewellery made headlines in 2022 by gifting eight cars and 18 two-wheelers to employees. According to reports, the total value of the vehicles was approximately ₹1.2 crore. The gifts were distributed among workers across different levels of the organisation.
Savji Dholakia's extraordinary Diwali rewards
Surat-based diamond businessman Savji Dholakia is among India's best-known employers for his generous Diwali gifts. In 2018, his company, Hare Krishna Exports, gifted 600 cars and fixed deposits to employees. Prime Minister Narendra Modi was also present at an event in New Delhi where he handed over car keys to some recipients.
Earlier, in 2016, Dholakia gifted 1,260 cars, 400 flats and jewellery to employees. In 2014, he had presented 491 cars and 207 flats.
These remarkable gestures show how some businesses have turned Diwali celebrations into an opportunity to recognise employee loyalty and reward years of hard work.
