The mortal remains of veteran Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and former Rajya Sabha MP Ravindra Kishore Sinha, popularly known as R K Sinha, were consigned to flames in Patna on Saturday, October 31, with full state honours. He was 75.
The last rites were performed at Digha Ghat in Bihar's capital, where his son and BJP leader Rituraj Sinha lit the funeral pyre. His mortal remains were wrapped in the national flag as part of the state honours.
Before the funeral, Sinha's body was kept at his residence, Annapurna Bhawan, in the Pataliputra area of Patna, allowing family members, party workers, political leaders and members of the public to pay their last respects.
Several prominent political leaders visited the residence to offer tributes. Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary and Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary paid floral tributes and met the bereaved family. Former Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi also visited the residence to express her condolences.
Several other political leaders, including Union Minister Chirag Paswan, BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad, Bihar ministers Dilip Jaiswal, Mithilesh Tiwari and Mangal Pandey, also paid their respects.

Sinha passed away on Friday, October 30, at his residence in Noida following a brief illness, according to family sources. His death prompted condolences from political leaders and business personalities across the country.
Born in Bihar, Sinha began his professional career as a journalist. He also worked as a war correspondent during the 1971 India-Pakistan war. Later, he moved into entrepreneurship and established Security and Intelligence Services (SIS) in 1974. The company eventually grew into one of India's largest private security service providers.
His association with the BJP dates back to the Jan Sangh days. He was considered one of the party's founding members and held several organisational positions during his political career. In 2014, he was elected to the Rajya Sabha from Bihar, serving until 2020.
Apart from politics and business, Sinha was also associated with various social and educational initiatives. His contributions to journalism, entrepreneurship and public life were remembered by leaders from different political backgrounds following his demise.
His passing marks the end of a long career spanning journalism, politics and India's private security industry.
