The Bharatiya Janata Party has announced a major organisational reshuffle, appointing 24 functionaries to key organisational positions across several states and regions. The appointments were announced on September 24 and take effect immediately.
The changes include appointments of state general secretaries (organisation), state joint general secretaries (organisation), national joint general secretaries (organisation) and other organisational functionaries. The positions, commonly referred to as “Sangathan Mantri” roles, are responsible for coordinating the party’s organisational activities and maintaining communication between the BJP and the RSS.
At the national level, Shivprakash has been assigned organisational responsibility for Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Goa, with Mumbai as his centre. Saudan Singh has been given responsibility for Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha and West Bengal and will be based in Bhubaneswar.
Several states have also received new state general secretaries (organisation). Chandrashekhar has been appointed for Madhya Pradesh, while Phanindranath Sharma will oversee Uttarakhand. Dharampal has been assigned Uttar Pradesh, and Mantri Srinivasulu will handle Punjab and Chandigarh. Pawan Rana has been given responsibility for Delhi and Haryana.
In West Bengal, Amitabh Chakraborty has been appointed state general secretary (organisation), with Kolkata as his centre. This appointment comes alongside Saudan Singh being given wider organisational responsibility for West Bengal at the national level.
Other appointments include Karmveer for Chhattisgarh, Manas Mohanty for Odisha, Pawan Sai for Jharkhand, Bhikhubhai Dalsania for Bihar and Madhukar for Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Ravindra Raju has been assigned organisational responsibility for Assam and Tripura.
In Maharashtra, Ajay Jamwal has been appointed state general secretary (organisation), while Satish Dhond has been given the position of state joint general secretary (organisation) and additional responsibility for tribal outreach across Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Maharashtra.
The party has also made appointments for Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh and other regions. Siddharthan has been assigned Himachal Pradesh, while Arun Binnadi will serve as state joint general secretary (organisation) in Gujarat. Ratnakar has also been given organisational responsibility for Gujarat, Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu.
Alongside state-level appointments, V Satish has been given responsibility for the SC/ST Morchas and the Parliamentary Office, while Nagendra will handle the senior workers’ outreach programme. Abhay Giri has been appointed Sangathak for the Braj region, with Agra as his centre. Ananta Narayan Mishra will oversee the Bhagalpur, Purnia and Kosi regions from Purnia.
The reshuffle follows the BJP’s recent appointment of state in-charges and co-in-charges for all 36 states and Union territories. Those appointments included Vinod Tawde for Uttar Pradesh, Satish Poonia for Punjab, Ram Madhav for Uttarakhand and Tamil Nadu, and Smriti Irani for Haryana and Chhattisgarh.
The latest organisational appointments place new functionaries in several states where organisational positions had remained vacant or were undergoing changes. The BJP has said the appointments are effective immediately, bringing the newly announced organisational structure into operation across the affected states and regions.
