News Desk: Soumyajyoti Mandal,Kolkata:A political row has erupted over the turnout at the INDIA bloc's rally held at Delhi's Ramlila Maidan on Sunday, with Union Minister Kiren Rijiju accusing the Congress of circulating AI-generated images to exaggerate the crowd size.
Rijiju shared a photograph on social media, claiming that the image showing a packed Ramlila Maidan was artificially generated using Artificial Intelligence (AI). He also alleged that even the AI-generated visuals contained inconsistencies.
The BJP had earlier described the rally as a “flop show”, claiming that more than 40 per cent of the ground remained vacant. BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra also criticised the Congress, alleging that the party was using misleading visuals to project a larger turnout.
The Congress, however, rejected the allegations of poor attendance and claimed that around 10 lakh people had gathered at the rally. Party leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, shared drone footage of the venue to support their claims.
The rally was organised by the INDIA bloc to demand the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and oppose the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. Several prominent Opposition leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, Mamata Banerjee, Akhilesh Yadav and Tejashwi Yadav, attended the gathering.
The controversy over the crowd size has further intensified the political confrontation between the BJP and the Opposition.
