A Noida-based content creator has shared her unpleasant experience at a screening of Mirzapur: The Movie, claiming that she and her friend had to leave the theatre because of the behaviour of some members of the audience.
Anamika, a content creator from Noida, said in a video posted on Saturday that she walked out of an auditorium not because she disliked the film, but because she was uncomfortable with the crowd. She alleged that some people in the theatre had consumed alcohol and were creating an unpleasant atmosphere.
“We came out of the theatre, not because the film was bad, but because the crowd was so bad,” she said in the video. According to her, several people had arrived after drinking and the situation became uncomfortable for other viewers.
Anamika said that other members of the audience also complained about the situation and wanted the theatre authorities to take action before returning to the screening.
In a later video recorded the same evening, she said that she and her friend eventually decided to return home because they were unhappy with the response from the theatre management. She claimed that the management offered to accommodate them in another auditorium but said it could not remove the people allegedly causing the disturbance.
According to Anamika, the management also asked them to contact the police by dialling 100. She questioned why customers should have to make the call instead of the theatre taking responsibility for maintaining a safe and comfortable environment.
The content creator did not disclose the name of the theatre but tagged Wave Cinemas in her social media post. She later shared additional videos responding to the reactions her original post received.
Many users in the comments supported her decision to leave the screening. Some viewers said maintaining basic civic sense and consideration for others is important in public spaces, while others claimed similar incidents can occur in theatres in smaller cities.
The incident has drawn attention online as Mirzapur: The Movie continues to attract audiences following its theatrical release.
Directed by Gurmeet Singh and written by Puneet Krishna, the film expands the story established by the popular Amazon Prime Video series. It stars Ali Fazal, Pankaj Tripathi and Divyenndu, while Jitendra Kumar plays the role of Bablu Pandit.
The film released in theatres on Friday and reportedly earned ₹57 crore net in India during its first two days. It has also received positive responses from critics and is expected to continue its theatrical run strongly.
