A dramatic incident in Assam's Kamrup district has drawn attention after a woman climbed onto a moving car and smashed its windows following a confrontation. Police are investigating whether the incident was connected to a financial dispute allegedly linked to drug trafficking.
The incident took place at Bamunigaon, where a Hyundai car bearing registration number AS 01 DX 5856, reportedly travelling towards Goalpara, hit a roadside divider. A confrontation followed, during which the woman climbed onto the vehicle, attracting the attention of local residents.
The unusual scene raised concerns among bystanders, with some suspecting that the woman might have been taken against her will. The occupants of the vehicle were stopped, and police were alerted to the incident.
However, the investigation has since focused on another possible angle. Police are examining whether a financial dispute connected to alleged drug trafficking led to the confrontation. The exact sequence of events and the reason behind the woman's actions remain unclear.
Six People Linked to the Case
Police have detained three men in connection with the incident. They have been identified as Faridul Islam, a resident of Lakhipur in Goalpara district; Amidul, from Baruajhar; and Abbas Ali, from Ulubari in Darrang district.
The woman involved in the confrontation has also been named in the case, along with two other individuals identified as Thangkha Hao and Chatmin Khang.
According to the police, the woman and the two other individuals had previously been arrested in a separate drug-related case. Investigators are now examining whether there is a connection between that case and the latest incident.
The authorities are questioning those involved to establish what happened before the confrontation and whether any financial dealings or disputes played a role.
Boko Police Station Officer-in-Charge Munna Pachani confirmed that the investigation was underway.
Police Yet to Establish the Full Sequence of Events
The incident initially triggered suspicions of a possible abduction because of the woman's unusual actions and the circumstances surrounding the vehicle. However, investigators have not yet established whether those suspicions had any basis.
Police are continuing to examine the alleged financial dispute and its possible connection to drug trafficking. The involvement of the individuals named in the case and the precise circumstances that led to the confrontation remain under investigation.
Further details are expected to emerge as the police question those involved and gather additional evidence.
