Three Men Posing as Cops Allegedly Gangrape Delhi Teen Near Kalkaji Temple

A 17-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted by three men who posed as police officers at Astha Kunj Park in southeast Delhi’s Kalkaji area on Monday evening, police said. One of the accused has been arrested, while efforts are underway to trace the other two.

According to police, the girl had visited Kalkaji Mandir with her 17-year-old male friend at around 7pm to offer prayers. After visiting the temple, the two went to Astha Kunj Park, located near both Kalkaji Mandir and the ISKCON temple, at around 7:30pm.

The teenagers were sitting inside the park when three men, reportedly aged between 25 and 30, approached them. The men allegedly claimed to be policemen and began threatening the teenagers with arrest.

Police said the accused then allegedly assaulted the girl. One of the men allegedly restrained her male friend while the other two sexually assaulted the minor. After the incident, the three men allegedly threatened the teenagers with arrest and left the park.

A PCR call regarding the incident was received at around 8:45pm. A police team subsequently reached the location and began investigating the matter. The girl was taken for a medical examination, while her statement was recorded by the police.

A case has been registered under relevant provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Police arrested one of the accused on Tuesday morning. The remaining two suspects are currently absconding, and several police teams have been deployed to trace them.

Investigators are also examining CCTV footage from the area to identify the two suspects and establish their movements before and after the alleged incident. Police are also collecting information about people who may have been present in or around Astha Kunj Park when the incident took place.

A senior police officer said further legal action would be taken based on the minor’s statement. The officer added that efforts were continuing to identify and apprehend the remaining accused.

The incident has prompted a police investigation into the circumstances surrounding the alleged assault and the suspects’ claim of being police officers. Officials are also examining available evidence from the area as part of the investigation.

As the investigation continues, police are expected to question the arrested accused and gather further evidence to establish the sequence of events. The identities and specific roles of the remaining suspects will be determined as the investigation progresses.
