A mother and her 24-year-old daughter were allegedly harassed and their car was rammed by a Mahindra Scorpio on Gurugram’s Golf Course Road on August 27, police said. The incident has drawn attention because it occurred on the same stretch where a woman biker, Shivani “Sia” Chauhan, was allegedly hit by a car on September 13.
According to the complaint, the 45-year-old woman was travelling with her daughter towards Sector 54 Rapid Metro station at around 10.09 pm when a black Scorpio with a temporary registration number allegedly rammed their grey Maruti-Suzuki Swift near AIT Chowk.
The woman said a minor argument followed the collision. She alleged that the Scorpio driver then drove ahead, intercepted their vehicle and blocked their path. According to the complaint, the man subsequently took an iron rod from his vehicle, damaged the headlight of their car and left the spot.
The woman said she approached the police soon after the incident but alleged that no immediate action was taken. She claimed that she was told it would be difficult to trace the vehicle because it had a temporary registration number.
An FIR was eventually registered at Sector 56 police station on Tuesday against an unidentified Scorpio driver. The complainant also alleged that the driver abused both her and her daughter during the incident. However, the FIR did not include a separate section related to the alleged abuse.
Police registered the case under sections 125, 281 and 324(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The sections relate to acts endangering life or personal safety, rash driving and mischief involving damage to property within the specified value range.
The woman also provided dashcam footage from her car, which she said captured the incident. The footage has not been independently verified.
The case has emerged amid heightened attention on road safety in Gurugram following the September 13 incident involving biker Shivani “Sia” Chauhan. In that case, Sector 56 police registered a case on their own after a video of the incident circulated publicly and also invoked an attempt-to-murder charge against the alleged driver.
The two incidents have occurred on the same stretch of Golf Course Road, raising renewed concerns about road safety and the response to complaints involving alleged dangerous driving.
The Sector 56 police station has not publicly provided detailed comments on the August 27 case despite queries regarding the delay in registering the FIR.
The investigation into the latest incident is now expected to focus on identifying the Scorpio driver, verifying the dashcam footage and examining the circumstances surrounding the collision and alleged confrontation.
