Man Arrested for Threatening MP Chief Minister to Get His Father Arrested

A man from Burhanpur in Madhya Pradesh has been arrested for allegedly sending a death threat to Chief Minister Mohan Yadav through the Dial-112 WhatsApp number. Police said the threat was not sent with an actual plan to harm the Chief Minister. Instead, the accused allegedly wanted the police to arrest his father.

According to the police, the threatening message was received around 11:30 am on September 23. The accused allegedly edited the message twice before deleting it. However, personnel monitoring the Dial-112 WhatsApp service managed to take a screenshot of the message before it was removed.

The screenshot became an important lead in the investigation. Police launched a technical probe to identify the person who had sent the message. The Crime Branch subsequently traced the sender to Burhanpur and arrested him.

Bhopal Police Commissioner Sanjay Kumar confirmed the arrest. According to police, the accused was reportedly troubled by his father and believed that sending a threat against the Chief Minister would force the police to take action against his father.

Investigators said their initial findings suggest that the accused did not have any genuine intention of carrying out the alleged threat. Rather, he reportedly believed that making such a serious complaint against the Chief Minister would lead to his father being arrested.

The accused was brought to Bhopal after his arrest and is currently being interrogated. Police are examining the circumstances surrounding the incident, his communications and the exact motive behind sending the message.

Officials are also investigating whether anyone else was involved or influenced the accused in sending the threat. Further legal action will depend on the findings of the ongoing investigation.

Police also said that the man had previously been caught travelling on a train without a valid ticket.

The incident has highlighted how threats sent through emergency communication channels can quickly trigger police investigations, even when the sender allegedly has a different intention. In this case, investigators were able to act on the message because Dial-112 personnel preserved a screenshot before it was deleted.

The probe remains underway, and police are expected to establish the complete circumstances behind the message before deciding on further action.
