Lucknow: Social media influencer and model Shraddha Dubey has released two videos detailing her version of events surrounding the death of her boyfriend, Shiva Sharma, in Lucknow on October 9. In the videos, she denied involvement in his death and claimed that she witnessed him jump from the balcony of her apartment. The claims remain unverified, and the case is under police investigation.
In one of the videos, Dubey said CCTV footage from the apartment would support her account of the incident. She claimed that Sharma had gone into the washroom and closed the door, prompting her to send her sister, Rashmi, to check on him. According to Dubey, by the time her sister opened the door, Sharma had jumped from the balcony.
Dubey also claimed that she and her driver tried to seek help after the incident by contacting Sharma’s mother, the emergency helpline 112 and ambulance services on 108. She alleged that Sharma’s mother later accused them of murder. These claims have not been independently verified.
The videos, reportedly circulated on WhatsApp rather than posted on her social media accounts, have not had their authenticity independently established.
Shraddha Dubey claims Sharma was under financial stress
Dubey said she had known Sharma for around four months and had been in a relationship with him for approximately two months. She claimed that he was facing debts of between ₹15 lakh and ₹20 lakh and had received repeated calls from people demanding repayment.
According to her account, Sharma had spoken about his financial difficulties and had expressed fears about being unable to repay his debts. She also denied allegations that he was being harassed or tortured, claiming that they had been spending time together normally in the days before his death.
Dubey said Sharma’s friends had visited her apartment on October 8 and questioned why they had not reported any alleged mistreatment to the police if such incidents had occurred.
Police name Dubey as prime accused
Lucknow police have named Dubey as the prime accused in the case and announced a reward of ₹25,000 each for information leading to the arrest of Dubey, her sister Rashmi and their driver. Police were reportedly investigating their possible whereabouts in Nepal after Dubey’s vehicle was found near the Nepal-Bahraich border.
Sharma, 28, died after falling from the apartment where he had allegedly been staying with Dubey for three to four months, according to earlier reports.
His mother, Ranjana Sharma, has accused Dubey, her sister and others of assaulting, harassing and blackmailing her son before his death. Based on her complaint, Hazratganj police registered a murder case under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
According to the FIR, Sharma’s mother alleged that Dubey pushed him from the fourth floor and claimed that his body bore cigarette-burn marks. These allegations have not been established in court.
The investigation is ongoing, and the competing accounts of the incident will need to be examined by the authorities. Police have not publicly provided further details about the evidence collected or the status of the suspects.
