Mojtaba Khamenei’s Voice Heard in Rare Iran Video

Tehran: Iran has released rare footage featuring Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, with his voice heard publicly for the first time since he assumed the country’s top leadership post. The release comes amid continued speculation over his health and whereabouts.

The undated video, shared by Iran’s Fars news agency, shows the 56-year-old Khamenei taking part in a religious academic discussion. He is seen listening to a student’s thesis and commenting on the research while explaining aspects of what Iranian authorities describe as the country’s “Islamic Security Model”.

The footage has attracted particular attention because it is the first recently released video in which Khamenei’s voice can clearly be heard. However, Iranian media have not provided a date or location for the recording, making it difficult to independently establish when the footage was filmed.

The release comes against the backdrop of growing questions about Khamenei’s health. He has largely remained out of public view since becoming Iran’s Supreme Leader, and reports have repeatedly claimed that he suffered serious injuries during the US-Israeli strikes that killed his father and predecessor, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Iranian authorities have rejected or sought to counter such reports through state-linked media. Earlier this month, an undated video showed Mojtaba interacting with followers, but the lack of a confirmed recording date did little to end speculation.

The latest footage is therefore being closely watched both inside and outside Iran. Supporters of the Iranian leadership may view the video as evidence that the Supreme Leader remains active, while critics are likely to question why Tehran continues to release undated recordings instead of providing a live public appearance.

The video also comes at a sensitive time for Iran, with the country facing continuing regional tensions and uncertainty over its political leadership. Mojtaba’s prolonged absence has added to questions about how decisions are being made at the highest levels of the Iranian government.

For now, the footage confirms that Mojtaba Khamenei’s voice has been heard publicly, but it does not independently establish his current health condition or whereabouts. The absence of a date on the recording means questions surrounding his health are likely to continue despite the latest release.
