New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has asked its cadre, MPs and other elected representatives to intensify their engagement with people amid growing criticism of the NDA government over issues including employment, examination-related concerns and rising household expenses.
The direction comes after Prime Minister Narendra Modi held an extended meeting with the BJP’s newly appointed national office-bearers on Saturday. During the meeting, Modi reportedly stressed the need for fresh ideas, stronger grassroots engagement and a closer understanding of people’s concerns.
Party leaders have been asked to spend more time in their constituencies, interact directly with residents and follow up on local issues and the implementation of government schemes. The emphasis is on moving beyond routine organisational programmes and creating a more sustained connection with voters.
The BJP leadership is also concerned about what it sees as signs of complacency among some elected representatives following a series of electoral successes. Internal organisational feedback has reportedly indicated that some MPs and legislators are spending less time in their constituencies than expected.
The renewed outreach comes at a politically important time, with assembly elections approaching in several states, including Uttar Pradesh. Opposition parties have stepped up their campaigns on employment, education, prices and other issues affecting voters.
The party is also focusing heavily on younger voters. The BJP has launched efforts to strengthen its engagement with Gen Z, while its new office-bearers have been encouraged to remain active on social media and communicate more directly with young people.
For MPs and ministers, the message is clear: greater visibility at the grassroots level and regular interaction with constituents will be important. Party leaders are expected to listen to public grievances, explain government initiatives and respond to criticism more effectively.
The BJP’s latest organisational push reflects an attempt to strengthen its voter connect before the next round of electoral battles. With economic pressures and public concerns increasingly becoming part of political debates, the party is seeking to ensure that its extensive cadre network remains active and closely connected with voters.
