New Delhi, October 10, 2026: Amid the political turmoil surrounding the protest against the Election Commission in Delhi, Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke has suffered a personal loss. His grandmother, Savitribai Shankar Dipke, passed away on Saturday after a prolonged illness in Maharashtra’s Hingoli district. Her death has cast a pall of grief over the family and her native village of Santuk Pింపরি.

According to local media reports, Savitribai was 85 years old at the time of her death. She had been unwell for some time and was undergoing treatment. She breathed her last in her village on Saturday.

Abhijeet’s absence from home during this difficult time has added to the emotional strain, as he is currently in Delhi amid the ongoing protest-related developments.

Protest in Delhi Amid Family Tragedy

The CJP had called for a protest at Jantar Mantar on Saturday, October 10, against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The demonstration was planned to raise concerns over various aspects of the electoral process, including the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.

However, Delhi Police reportedly denied permission for the proposed demonstration. Despite the restrictions, CJP leaders remained determined to participate in the protest.

According to several reports, Abhijeet Dipke, Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka were detained by police after arriving in Delhi to take part in the demonstration. The developments have raised questions about when Abhijeet will be able to return to his native village to attend his grandmother’s last rites.

Grandmother Reportedly Supported His Activism

Abhijeet Dipke hails from Santuk Pimp ri village in Maharashtra’s Hingoli district. He has gained national attention in recent times through the CJP’s social and political activities, including campaigns related to public school infrastructure and transparency in the electoral process.

Reports suggest that his grandmother supported his activism, making her death on a day of significant political activity particularly painful for him.

While the situation in Delhi remains tense over the proposed protest and police action, the news of the death has brought grief to Abhijeet’s family.

There is no confirmed information yet about when Abhijeet will be able to return to his village to attend the funeral. Messages of sympathy are expected as the family comes to terms with the loss during this difficult period.
