US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor held discussions with senior Amazon executives on Monday, focusing on the company’s expanding presence in India and opportunities to strengthen economic ties between the United States and India.
Gor shared details of the meeting in a post on X, highlighting the growing role of American businesses in India. He said the discussions covered Amazon’s India footprint, opportunities for US companies and ways to further deepen economic cooperation between the two countries.
The meeting comes at a time when India-US relations are expanding across several areas, including trade, defence, aerospace, pharmaceuticals and space. Gor has repeatedly stressed the importance of turning the bilateral partnership into concrete outcomes that benefit people and businesses in both countries.
Speaking at an event in Bengaluru on Sunday to mark 250 years of American independence, Gor said his focus in India was on achieving practical results rather than simply looking back at the history of the United States.
He said the Trump administration had sent him to India with the objective of getting things done and looking ahead. According to Gor, the two countries should continue identifying areas where cooperation can create benefits for both sides.
The ambassador also described the US-India relationship as a partnership that advances through concrete actions. He said American and Indian officials look every week for examples of mutually beneficial cooperation.
Amazon has a significant operational presence in India, making its business activities an important part of the broader economic relationship between the two countries. Discussions with major American companies are also part of efforts to encourage greater investment, innovation and commercial cooperation.
