Taimur Wants to Play Cricket or Football, Says Kareena Kapoor

Kareena Kapoor has revealed that her elder son, Taimur Ali Khan, is already dreaming of a career in sports rather than following his family into Bollywood. The actor said Taimur is passionate about cricket and football and wants to compete on a global stage.

In a recent conversation with Hanuman Dass, Kareena spoke about allowing her children to make their own career choices. She said Taimur has told her that he wants to become either a footballer or a cricketer.

“When Tim says he wants to be a football player or cricketer because right now he is so much into sports, I say, if that's what you want to do, then you have to make it happen. We have to encourage him in the right direction,” Kareena said.

The actor also stressed that Taimur should not feel pressured to become an actor simply because he belongs to one of Bollywood's most famous film families. According to Kareena, she and Saif Ali Khan want their children to have the freedom to choose careers based on their own interests.

She acknowledged that Taimur may change his mind as he grows older, but said that would also be perfectly fine. Kareena recalled that she herself knew from a young age that she wanted to become an actor, although she was never particularly interested in cricket or football.

Taimur's interest in cricket also connects him to the sporting legacy of the Pataudi family. His grandfather, Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi, was one of India's most celebrated cricketers and captained the Indian team for several years. The Pataudi family has a long association with cricket, making Taimur's interest in the sport particularly noteworthy.

Kareena has previously spoken about her sons' fascination with sports stars. In a podcast conversation with her sister-in-law Soha Ali Khan, she revealed that Taimur and his younger brother Jeh are more interested in athletes than Bollywood celebrities. Taimur has even asked Kareena whether she knows cricketers such as Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, as well as football superstar Lionel Messi.

For now, acting does not appear to be on Taimur's list of ambitions. Kareena said the family will support him and encourage him to pursue whatever path makes him happy.

Meanwhile, Kareena is preparing for her next major film, Daayra, directed by Meghna Gulzar. The film marks their first collaboration and also features Malayalam star Prithviraj Sukumaran. Kareena and Prithviraj play police officers in the project, which is inspired by true events.

Daayra is scheduled to arrive in theatres on September 18 and will release alongside Kunal Kemmu's Vibe, which stars Preity Zinta and Sparsh Srivastava.
