A pre-release event for actor Yash’s upcoming film Toxic: A Fairy Tale For Grown-Ups turned chaotic in Hyderabad on Saturday evening after part of the sound and lighting system collapsed at the venue, leaving two people injured.
The event was organised at Malla Reddy University, where thousands of fans and students had gathered to catch a glimpse of Yash ahead of the film’s release. The large crowd reportedly moved closer to the stage, prompting police personnel to repeatedly ask people to maintain distance and avoid overcrowding.
Videos from the event showed several young attendees climbing onto structures around the venue as the crowd continued to gather near the stage.
The incident occurred while Yash was addressing the audience. During his speech, a section of the sound and lighting equipment suddenly collapsed. Two people were injured in the incident and were immediately taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. According to reports, one of the injured individuals briefly lost consciousness.
Yash was informed about the situation and immediately paused his speech to check whether those affected were safe. He asked the organisers and authorities to look into the matter and urged the students in the crowd to remain careful.
“Hey, careful. Is everything okay there? Is everyone safe?” Yash asked while reacting to the incident.
He later requested the authorities to check on the injured people before continuing with the programme. After organisers assured him that the situation was under control, the actor resumed his speech.
The incident has raised concerns over crowd management and safety arrangements at large promotional events, particularly those attended by thousands of fans.
Toxic: A Fairy Tale For Grown-Ups is scheduled to hit theatres on August 26. Directed by Geetu Mohandas, the film stars Yash in the lead role, with Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria and Rukmini Vasanth in key roles.
The film is set to release in Kannada, English, Telugu, Tamil, Hindi and Malayalam. It has received an ‘A’ certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).
The Hyderabad event was intended to build excitement around the much-awaited film, but the equipment collapse briefly shifted attention towards the safety of the attendees.
