Jaipur School Demolished After CJP Attack

A dilapidated government primary school in Jaipur’s Rampura Kanwarpura village was demolished on Wednesday, days after a visit by Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) workers turned violent. The Rajasthan government has now announced plans to build a new school building at the site at a cost of ₹18 lakh.

The school, located in the Bagru Assembly constituency, had already been declared unsafe in September 2025 and was subsequently closed for regular use. Since then, its 18 students have been attending classes in two rooms and a tin shed arranged by local villagers. Buffaloes are also kept near the temporary learning facility.

The issue came into focus after CJP workers visited the village on August 21 as part of their ‘School Thik Karo’ campaign, which focuses on the condition of government schools. The group was allegedly attacked by people present at the site. Party co-convener Ashutosh Ranka was injured during the incident.

Ranka later said that stones were thrown at the visitors, women were assaulted and vehicle windows were damaged. He described the demolition and proposed construction of a new school as an important outcome of the campaign.

The state government announced funding for the new building two days after the incident. According to the government order, ₹12 lakh was approved from the District Mineral Foundation Trust, while another ₹6 lakh was sanctioned from the local MLA’s fund. The total allocation has therefore reached ₹18 lakh.

Local residents have welcomed the decision, saying that the school’s poor condition had been a long-standing concern. Lalchand Sharma, a resident of the area, said the demolition of the unsafe structure and construction of a proper building were positive steps.

He also criticised the violence and political confrontation surrounding the school, saying educational institutions should remain focused on children and learning rather than political disputes. Villagers, he added, are ready to cooperate with the authorities during the construction work.

The CJP has called the development a victory for its campaign to improve government schools. The new building is expected to provide students with a safer and more suitable environment for their education.

The demolition has now cleared the way for construction, bringing hope to students, parents and residents who have been waiting for a proper school facility since the old building was declared unsafe.
