India and China are set to hold Corps Commander-level talks in Arunachal Pradesh on Sunday, September 6, amid continued tensions and unresolved issues along the Line of Actual Control (LAC).
The meeting will take place at the Wacha BMP meeting point along the LAC in Arunachal Pradesh. It is the first time that Corps Commander-level discussions between the two countries are being held in the state, marking a new channel of military engagement in the eastern sector.
The talks come against the backdrop of competing territorial claims and a significant military buildup along the India-China border. Both sides have maintained a heavy military presence in several areas along the LAC following years of tensions.
Lieutenant General Girish Kalia, Commander of the Indian Army’s Spear Corps, will lead the Indian delegation, according to sources. He is expected to meet his Chinese counterpart to discuss issues concerning the border and military engagement in the region.
