An IndiGo flight travelling from Goa to Delhi made an emergency landing at Goa’s Manohar International Airport on Tuesday morning after a technical issue was detected. The aircraft was carrying 229 passengers.
According to people familiar with the incident, IndiGo flight 6E 2102 took off from Goa at around 9:16 am. Within minutes, an emergency was declared after a problem was reported with one of the aircraft’s engines. The flight returned to the airport and landed safely at around 9:50 am.
The airline said the aircraft developed a technical issue and was brought back to the airport as a precaution. It is now undergoing detailed maintenance checks.
“The aircraft is currently undergoing maintenance checks and will resume operations after securing all necessary clearances,” IndiGo said in a statement.
The airline also apologised to passengers for the disruption and said it had taken steps to minimise the inconvenience. Refreshments and timely updates were provided to passengers while alternative travel arrangements were being made.
A full emergency was declared at the airport following the incident. Emergency services were placed on standby as the aircraft returned to Goa.
The incident comes amid increased attention on aviation safety, particularly following a series of recent aircraft-related incidents involving Indian airlines. However, there is no indication in the available information that the latest IndiGo incident resulted in any injuries.
