Aneet Padda is back with a very different role after the success of Saiyaara. The teaser of her upcoming thriller series Hunkkaar: The Roar was released on Tuesday, September 1, giving viewers a first look at a dark story involving sexual assault, power and the fight for justice.
In the JioHotstar series, Aneet plays 17-year-old Meenu Rawat, a school student who arrives at a police station with her family and accuses a powerful cult leader, Sunil Chakosi, popularly known as Baapji, of assaulting her.
The teaser begins with Meenu introducing herself and recounting her ordeal. Her allegation sets off an investigation that quickly grows beyond a single criminal case, bringing questions of influence, public perception and the justice system into focus.
Fatima Sana Shaikh plays ACP Jasleen Singh Soni, the police officer assigned to investigate the case. The teaser suggests that her character must deal with pressure while trying to uncover the truth. The story also brings in a lawyer and a journalist, creating parallel battles in the police investigation, courtroom and media.
The series features a strong supporting cast, including Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, Arjun Mathur, Raghubir Yadav and Ram Kapoor. It is directed by Karan D Kapadia, Nitya Mehra and Heeraz Marfatia.
Interestingly, Hunkkaar was filmed before Saiyaara, the 2025 musical romantic drama that turned Aneet into a widely recognised name. Sharing the teaser, Aneet said the project had been part of her journey for a while and that she was happy to finally share it with audiences.
The actress' breakthrough came with Saiyaara, in which she starred opposite Ahaan Panday. The film became one of the biggest Hindi hits of 2025 and brought both actors significant attention.
Hunkkaar: The Roar is now scheduled to premiere on JioHotstar on September 25. Unlike the romantic world of Saiyaara, the new series puts Aneet in a serious and emotionally demanding role, with the story centred on a young survivor taking on a powerful figure and a system that may not be ready to listen.
The teaser promises a tense thriller that combines crime, investigation, courtroom drama and social conflict, making it one of Aneet’s most challenging projects since her breakout.
