Abhijeet Dipke challenges PM Modi over degrees

Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke on Thursday challenged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to show their educational degrees, amid a fresh controversy over Dipke’s claimed education at Boston University.

In a post on X, Dipke said he was ready to show his degree if the Prime Minister did the same. “Let’s both show our degrees and put an end to this,” he said, turning the ongoing debate over his educational credentials into a direct challenge to Modi.

Dipke’s remarks came after questions were raised about his education during a recent podcast hosted by Prakhar Gupta, who was speaking with activist Sonam Wangchuk. Gupta claimed that one of his close friends had studied at Boston University and had also participated in protests associated with Dipke’s CJP.

According to Gupta, the friend later looked into Dipke’s educational background and allegedly found no record of him graduating from the university. The claim has since circulated widely on social media.

Dipke responded by sharing a video compilation that apparently showed an afterparty involving Boston University graduates. In the footage, an individual identified as Dipke can reportedly be seen sitting at a table and speaking with others.

Questions over Dipke’s US education have surfaced previously as well. RTI activist Amit Tiwari had sought an inquiry into the finances of Dipke’s father, Bhagwanrao Dipke, a retired Maharashtra government employee. Tiwari questioned how the family could afford US education while Dipke’s father was reportedly working as a junior engineer with the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation.

Dipke has rejected these allegations. In an interview with journalist Barkha Dutt, he said his education at Boston University was funded through a scholarship. He also said he had taken an education loan that he still has to repay. During the interview, Dipke showed what he described as his scholarship letter from the university.

The CJP has also defended its founder. Party spokesperson Vaishnavi Gaur criticised those seeking information about Dipke’s education expenses and raised questions about the PM CARES Fund.

Dipke also questioned why the Delhi High Court had refused to disclose Modi’s degree, alleging that those demanding proof of his education were applying a different standard to the Prime Minister.

Questions about Modi’s educational qualifications have been raised by opposition leaders in the past. The BJP has maintained that his degrees have already been displayed publicly and that the issue has been settled.

The latest exchange has once again brought the educational credentials of both Dipke and Modi into the political spotlight.
